Indications: This remedy is very useful in the treatment of gastro-intestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, dehydration and dizziness. These symptoms might be due to a viral stomach infection or over-indulgence of rich foods and alcohol.

Arsenicum iodatum Distressing nausea and vomiting an hour after food; intense thirst for cold water that is immediately rejected; diarrhoea with sometimes bloody stools; painful cramping; feeling of exhaustion and weakness.
Belladonna Sudden onset of symptoms; uncontrollable vomiting with stomach spasm; stools are green and lumpy; great thirst for cold water or thirstless but dread of drinking liquids; also useful in vertigo and air sickness
China officinalis Debility from exhaustion of losing vital fluids; vomiting of undigested food; flatulence, colic and belching; bitter/sour belching after milk; thirst for cold water which aggravates diarrhoea; stools may be dark, foul and watery with painful abdominal spasms.
Cocculus indicus Violent abdominal spasms; extreme aversion to food; nausea, dizziness and vomiting; nausea from travelling in cars, boats etc.
Ignatia amara Aversion to warm food; nausea or vomiting with flatulence; diarrhoea alternating with constipation but constant ineffectual urging to stool.
Ipecacuanha Persistent nausea and vomiting, especially after indigestible food; cutting, griping pain especially around navel area; frequent stools; nausea from looking at moving objects
Magnesia phosphorica Excellent anti-spasmodic remedy; flatulence and abdominal spasms; hiccoughs and vomiting.
Natrum sulphuricum Loose stools in morning; sudden stools, passed forcibly; flatulence, yellow watery stools, burning in anus after stool
Nux vomica Digestive disturbances from overindulgence in alcohol, coffee and rich foods; flatulence, abdominal distension and spasmodic colic.

 

Dosage: In the acute stage suck 3-5 pillules in a clean mouth every half hour for 3 doses then every hour for 3 doses. Continue dosing every 2 - 4 hours until relief is obtained, thereafter as needed.
